This month, we sat down with PR, mum, and fashion queen, Montarna Pitt. Check out her instagram profile (@montarnapitt) and be ready to be "influenced" immediately! There is no question that Montarna has totally nailed the intricacies of work-life balance all whilst raising her gorgeous daughter, Parker, who has just celebrated her 1st Birthday (even her parties were lust-worthy).
In The Bag with Montarna Pitt is a peek into how the last few months have changed business and motherhood - and maybe with some benefits! We absolutely loved sitting down with our favourite glamazon mum and can't wait to style our Cub And Scout 'carry-wear' with a bit of her flare!
Tell us about an average day in your world…
“Something I’ve always loved about working in PR and events is that no two days are the same. Having a one year old daughter brings a whole new meaning to that sentiment! Truly every day has a different schedule for me. I jump between mumming, working on The Audience Agency projects and content creation for clients. Depending on what’s going on, I can spend a whole day at my desk (thanks to my amazing family who step up for childcare!), or a few hours on a shoot and then home to play with Parker – it’s a varied juggle and I love it.”
What are three things you never leave home without?
“Only 3?! My handbags give Mary Poppins a run for her money, I jam so much stuff into them. But if I had to narrow it down I’m not going anywhere without my Iphone, airpods and portable charger.”
Best advice on how to juggle both running a business and motherhood?
“Take every day as it comes and be kind to yourself. You can be super organised with a schedule mapping every minute of your day, but if you wake up and your baby is sick it throws everything out – and that’s okay. It can take a while to adjust and if you like to be in control (as I do!), you have to accept that you’ll be thrown a curveball now and then. Also surround yourself with a support network and ask for help when you need it. I’m really lucky to have an amazing team at The Audience Agency, a hugely supportive family, my friendship circle and my mother’s group – they’re all my rocks.”
Three baby bag ‘must haves’?
A changemat (it’s unbelievable the places you’ll find yourself changing a nappy)
Supply of dummies (yes, I’ve got a dummy obsessed daughter!)
Antibacterial wipes (I use these on bottles, dummies, high chairs, everything)
How would you describe your personal style?
“I’d say my personal style is eclectic with a masculine edge. Although my wedding dress was the complete opposite and you’ll find me in a gorgeous frothy gown at least once during party season! I like to mix high fashion with daily basics and now I have a young child, comfort and versatility are key - can I give my baby breakfast in this outfit AND wear it to a client meeting?!"
What’s your signature dish?
“Uber Eats – I prefer styling the table over cooking the food!”
Where will you be holidaying once travel restrictions are lifted?
“We are desperate to take Parker to Hawaii, it’s one of my favourite holiday destinations. If I could sneak an adults-only trip in, it would be the Amalfi coast in Italy.”
Describe your ideal date night…
“My husband Nick cooking me dinner, a great bottle (or two) of wine, a fire pit and a fab playlist.”
What is your go-to Cub And Scout bag?
“The Piper Pouch is the BEST. I can use it as a mini baby bag for short trips out and about, but I also use them as clutches and beauty bags when I’m travelling.”
Who are your female role models?
“My mum, mother-in-law and grandmothers. They are all the strongest, most fabulous women I know each in their own way.”
What are your plans for 2020?
“To keep living, loving and enjoying every moment. It’s been a tough and testing year but I believe we need to come away with some positives. My silver lining has been spending a lot more time with Parker and our family.”
